MICROBIOLOGIST

 

Duty Station:  Rajshahi, Sylhet or any of the TB Reference Lab

Area : Tuberculosis

Contract Duration:  31 Dec, 2026.

Number of Vacancies: 02

Age: The maximum age for recruitment under Global Fund is 55 years and one can continue his/ her service up to the age of 62 years.

Contract Type: Yearly contract, with possibility of extension of the tenure subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance.

Reporting to: Line Director (TB-L and ASP)

 

Position Description:

Under the overall supervision, guidance and monitoring of Line Director (TB-L and ASP) and direct supervision of TB Lab and Infection Control Expert, he/she will be responsible for TB control program activity of the assigned laboratories by providing technical knowledge, expertise, analytical skills of data analysis and organizational skills for TB laboratory services


Job Responsibilities

A.    Required  Qualifications:

      Education:

     Graduate in Medical Science (MBBS or Equivalent) with post graduate qualification in Microbiology or BSC (Hons) with M.S in Microbiology from any recognized university. M S in public health will be considered as an additional qualification.

     Experience:

     At least 5 years of working experience in the field of Microbiology or related field in laboratory setting. Working experience in TB program with National/International organization will be considered as an additional qualification.

     Knowledge, abilities & skills, including personal qualities & human relationships: 

Technical skills on microbiological tools, knowledge of quality control and  assurance, analytical skills of data analysis, organizational skills applied to supervision, monitoring, evaluation and implementation of health care, particularly TB-laboratory services. Ability to establish harmonious working relationships as part of a team and maintain high standard of personal conduct.

Languages required and the level & nature of their use:

High level of proficiency in English and Bengali in writing/reporting/editing/communicating skills. Excellent computing skills with proficiency in MS Office for preparing program reports, correspondence, composing e-mails and multi-media presentations.

Functional Collaboration:

He/she will work under close supervision of TB Lab and IC Expert. He/she will implement activities in collaboration with Divisional TB Expert and DSMOs. He/she will do collaboration with both GOB and NGOs for effective and coordinated response to mitigate challenges of TB program.

 

B. Duties & responsibilities: 

 

       He/She  will acountable to Line Director (TB-L and ASP) and will work under direct supervision and guidance of Program Manager for her day to day activities.

       Will ensure ongoing diagnostic activities of RTRL

       Ensure quality recording and reporting of RTRL and other laboratories, analyze the reports and ensure optimize utilization of WRD tools

       Conduct/develop/upgrade mechanism for preventive maintenance of TB lab equipment/calibration and maintain the inventories

       Supervise and monitor other intermediate and peripheral labs, ensure quality of WRD tools and check & validate staffs performance

       Conduct trainings on existing and new TB diagnostic tools

       Assist on developing and updating recording and reporting of NTRL/RTRL activities

       Develop/upgrade/revise SOP, job aides, guidelines in coordination with TB lab and IC expert

       Forecast annual budgeting and planning of RTRL

       Supervise specimen transportation and assure quality

       Proficiency testing and EQA implementation, management and supervision

       Ensure biosafety, biosecurity and QMS activities at all levels of TB diagnostic network

       Regular monitoring and deep dive analysis of laboratory data for better decision making at policy and implementation level

       Scale up of new technologies and data connectivity tools

       Responsible to maintain stock and manage supply chain

       Evaluation of health status of all laboratory staffs when needed

       Preparedness for emergency and risk assessment

       Coordination and regular liaison with TB Laboratory and IC Expert, Divisional TB Experts, DSMO and implementing partners

       Any other duties assigned by Line Director (TB-L and ASP)

 

 


Compensation and Other Benefits

C.     Payment:

 

Assistant Finance Manager will get BDT - 1,30,284/= (BD Taka – One Lakh Thirty Thousand Two Hundred and Eighty-Four) (Taxable)
